Our Mission at Smartphones for Service Members (SFSM)
At Smartphones for Service Members, our mission has evolved to not only bridge communication gaps but to also empower veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and at-risk youth through access to technology, workforce development, and crisis support. We understand the critical role that connectivity, education, and career readiness play in shaping the futures of those who have served our nation and their families.

To this end, we are committed to providing essential tools—smartphones, tablets, computers, career training, and emergency financial assistance—to veterans, service members, and their families who are in need.

Supporting Homeless Veterans and Families in Crisis
With an estimated 30,000 homeless veterans in the United States, our focus includes ensuring these heroes have the resources they need to stay connected and rebuild their lives. Through our Vets at Risk Emergency Fund, we provide immediate financial assistance for housing, healthcare, and basic needs, alongside access to technology. We aim to ensure that every veteran—whether homeless or facing financial hardship—has the tools necessary to connect with services, family, and job opportunities.

We also recognize that many veterans, while not homeless, may struggle to afford modern technology. Our Technology Access Program helps veterans secure the devices they need to stay connected and access critical resources.

Empowering the Next Generation of Military Families
For the children of military families, education and connectivity are vital for academic success and maintaining communication with deployed loved ones. Our Next-Gen Empowerment Program provides tablets, computers, and mentorship opportunities to support their learning and development. Through these efforts, we are helping to prepare the next generation for a bright future, ensuring they have access to the tools and skills needed in a digital world.

Workforce Development for Veterans and At-Risk Youth
In addition to technology, our Workforce Empowerment for Military Families and At-Risk Youth program offers digital literacy training, career readiness workshops, and job placement services. We are committed to reducing recidivism among justice-involved youth and providing veterans with the tools they need to thrive in the civilian workforce. Through partnerships with local employers, justice system stakeholders, and community organizations, we are creating pathways to sustainable employment for those who need it most.

Collaboration with Nonprofit Partners
To achieve our goals effectively, we collaborate with a wide range of nonprofit organizations that specialize in supporting U.S. service members, veterans, and youth. These partnerships allow us to efficiently distribute technology, provide career opportunities, and offer vital resources to the communities we serve.

Our Founder
Founded by Stephen Smith, a Harvard-educated philanthropist and experienced entrepreneur with a rich background in the wholesale consumer electronics industry, Smartphones for Service Members is driven by a commitment to make a tangible impact on the lives of veterans, military families, and at-risk youth.

How You Can Support Us
We invite individuals and businesses across the United States to join us in this mission. Whether through donating unused technology, volunteering, or contributing to our emergency funds, your support makes a real difference. Businesses can also set up collection points at events or within their facilities to help gather much-needed resources.

Together, we can empower those who have served our nation, and their families, to build brighter futures. Join us today in keeping our service members, veterans, and families connected, supported, and empowered.

PARTNERS.
We are connected with other non-profit organizations for US service members and our veterans who can handle distribution and are more in tune with who needs what. Smartphones for Service Members is here to collect the devices, asses them and get those devices into the hands of the right organizations who can assist with distribution.
